Fire Cider

Fire Cider

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup Garlic cloves (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup Horseradish (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup Gingeroot (chopped)
  • 1/8-1/4 cup Cayenne or other hot peppers (chopped {omit this if using powdered cayenne})
  • 1/8-1/4 tsp. Cayenne pepper (Omit if using fresh hot peppers.)
  • 1/2-1 cup Raw honey (Add more or less according to taste!)

Directions

Step 1
Place chopped vegetables in a quart jar.
Step 2
Pour raw apple cider vinegar over the vegetables to the top of the jar, leaving an inch head-space.
Step 3
Cover with a lid and shake well.
Step 4
Let the jar sit in a dark, cool cabinet for 2-4 weeks, shaking daily or at least once a week.
Step 5
Strain the vegetables through a fine strainer and compost.
Step 6
To the liquid, add 1/8-1/4 tsp. of cayenne pepper {if you didn't add the fresh hot peppers at the beginning} and honey to taste. I normally add at least 1/2 cup-1 of raw honey, depending on how much of a sweet taste I want it to have.
Step 7
Stir well. You may need to slightly heat the cider to get the honey to mix in. Use very little heat so you don't kill any medicinal properties.
