Research shows that Tea Tree Oil is:
- antiseptic
- antibacterial
- antiviral
- antifungal
It kills viruses, bacteria, mold, mildew and fungus.
I use this oil for many different things, and one way is deep inhalation.
Breathing Tea Tree Oil can help kill viruses, mold, etc., and help prevent them from entering the nasal passages. I like to have my family breathe it in deeply before we go in public, especially if I know something is going around. I use it to help protect against germs at home too.
What we do is breathe deeply through one nostril at a time for 5 seconds each.
This wonderful essential oil helps protect for a few hours, so I like to carry it in my purse to use if we are gone for several hours. Tea Tree Oil also opens nasal passages and helps clear congestion. It’s a good idea to place a few drops on a tissue or cloth so you can hold it up against your nose and use as often as needed – this is especially good to do for congestion.
What do you use Tea Tree oil for?

Do you think you could use this as an ear drop for recurring ear infections? I am looking for something to help my toddler.
Jills Home Remedies says
I’ve never used it in the ear, Amanda, but you can. It’s recommended to dilute it with olive oil first. It’s a very versatile oil, isn’t it?

What a fantastic idea! I know it’s hard to say for sure, but do you think it has actually helped your family avoid sickness? I’m always looking for new ways to use essential oils! I clean with tea-tree oil (mixed with water or vinegar in a spray bottle).
Jills Home Remedies says
I do think it helps my family in that way. And I love your cleaning mixture- sounds great!

I use it for zits, they clear up in a couple of days. I also got some sort of athlete’s foot one time and used tea tree oil to clear it up. On days I’m not going out in public I use it as a deodorant, I just mix tea tree oil, peppermint oil, olive oil and water in a spray bottle, shake then spray it on. I’ve never smelled using this, it is the same formula I used on my foot too.

Oh, thank you, I’m going to try this right now!

We love tea tree oil! We use it for rashes, bug bites, and weird skin issues and even for sun burns. Great post!

Thanks Rachel! This oil is so versatile – love it!

I just bought some from Beeyoutiful and haven’t used it yet. Now I have some ideas for uses. I got it to use in the wash with stuff that seems germy, like my hubby’s FF/EMS uniforms.
By the way, I’ve been busy killing my bandwith (satellite internet up here!) watching your videos. It’s worth it! I’m learning so much!
Jills Home Remedies says
Kasey – this oil is great for anything germy – and also infections. I put it on areas that I want to be sure doesn’t get infected. Thank you for watching my videos! I’m so glad you can learn something! 🙂

How do you use it?
Jills Home Remedies says
Dessi,
You just breathe it in deeply like mentioned above. Thanks for stopping by!

I use tea tree oil, lavender oil, and a very small amount of liquid soap to make my baby wipes. My daughter stopped having diaper rashes after I started wiping her with this mixture. The oil created a nice “barrier” between her skin and her wet clothe diapers.
Jills Home Remedies says
I have always made my own baby wipes too. They are so much better than store bought ones!

I’ve heard of Tea Tree Oil before but didn’t realize how many uses it has, such as helping us breathe easier especially when there are viruses around.
