Home Remedies For Bursitis {Inflammation}

What is Bursitis and what causes it?

Bursitis is an inflammation of the bursa.  The bursa is a tiny sac filled with fluid that works as a gliding surface between tissues of the body.  Bursitis can occur in the shoulders, hips, knees, elbows, etc.  This inflammation may develop as a result of an injury, infection or rheumatism. The inflamed bursa can cause swelling, stiffness or redness and make it painful to support body pressure or lay on the affected side.  No one wants to live this way!

What are some home remedies for bursitis?

For pain relief~
*Rub the area with warm olive oil.
*Add a tablespoon of cayenne pepper to a cup of apple cider vinegar.  Simmer for 15 minutes.  Soak a cloth for 15 minutes in this mixture and apply to affected area.
*Grate fresh horseradish root and moisten it.  Make a poultice and apply to area.
*Place castor oil on area and cover with material or cotton; apply heating pad.
*Use one TBS of sandalwood with enough water to make a paste.  Apply to area.
*Apply lobelia oil on joints.
*Use a mullein tea compress on area.  You would make this by simply steeping mullein leaves for about 15 minutes, straining and soaking a cloth; then placing the cloth on affected area.

To help cure bursitis~
*As always, make sure your diet is full of green, leafy vegetables and other healthy foods.  Diet can play a big role in how we feel and the aches and pains we deal with.  Fast food and quick dinners at home (frozen or processed foods, etc.)  can lead to a road of ill-health.
*Increase calcium and vitamin B12 intake
*Grate a potato into a cup of water and steep overnight, covered.  Strain and drink the next morning before breakfast.  Drink this on a daily basis.
*Drinking sea water daily (can get from a health food store) can cure chronic bursitis.  Be cautious with this if you have high blood pressure.
*Add flax seeds or flax seed oil to diet.
*Consider doing a cleanse, like the Master Cleanse.  I’ve read of those that cleansed monthly or bi-monthly for several months until their pain (of any kind – like an injury or inflammation) disappeared!  Our body can heal itself through cleansing!
*It is important to put some (or several) of these remedies to use consistently.  Don’t just try one of them a few times and call it quits.  Consistency yields results!

    Good Morning, Jill!

I had HORRIBLE tendenitis in my shoulder and pain from my neck being fused and the only thing that healed both was ice massaging. Ice gets rid if the inflammation that is causing the pain. Take an ice cube and message all the sore spots every couple of hours. After a few day, well, it took me a month since mine were SO bad, it will get better! I LOVE ice. 😉

Hello there! I also had bursitis before… I’ve tried different home remedies, seen by different doctors, and tried a lot of pain relievers. My sufferings ended after my stem cell therapy. The treatment was successful, thanks to my orthopedic surgeon, Dr Purita. It’s been 2 years since I had my therapy and I’m glad that up to this day, I never had bursitis problem again.

Anything pepper is literally a wonder cure. I used to suffer from hemorrhoids, colon polyps, and towards the end I was diagnosed with Chrons disease. The “doctor” had me on so many medications that I could tell I was slowly being poisoned, and would soon need more medicines to treat the symptoms from those poisonous pills. Then my cousin gave me a book on healing herbs, and I realized cayenne pepper, or any other pepper was very good for inflammation. That night I went to the store, and purchased cayenne pepper, and ghost chilis. I ground them up in a food processor, and mixed them into an old enema bag with 1 liter of spring water, and a teaspoon of baking soda. That night I began nightly regimens of “pepper enemas”. I could feel it instantly working, and the next week I upped it to twice a day, and then on the third week three pepper enemas a day. When I went to the doctor the next month, my Chrons had been eliminated alongside my colon polyps. He said I was perfectly healthy, and he tried to tell me it was the medicines. We all know it wasn’t 🙂 I wanted to share this miracle cure with you all. There’s ALWAYS a cure in nature. Don’t let the big pharma cronies try and tell you other wise. Do your research (A simple google search can tell you wonders), and learn! I also learned that a simple cayenne pepper, ghost chilli pepper PASTE applied directly to hemorrhoids nightly will shrink them. It MIGHT burn a little, but that just means it’s working. GOOD LUCK YOU GUYS!!

It's a good idea to plant them right before a rain so the rain can help spread and germinate the spores.
