Not only can you save lots by making your own detergent, you can save by making your own fabric softener too! Enjoy!
Ingredients:
8 cups white vinegar
1 1/4 cups warm water
1 cup baking soda
Essentials oils of your choice (like lavender, lemon, orange…)
Directions:
Directions:
Mix vinegar and water together. Slowly add the baking soda, stirring constantly. Mix this in a large pail, as this will be fizzy! Use a funnel to pour this mixture into a gallon size container like a milk jug or old detergent container. Add a 1/3 teaspoon of your choice of essential oils. You can add more for a stronger fragrance. I tend to like a stronger fragrance. ๐ Shake before each use and add 1/2 – 1 cup to the fabric softener dispenser, depending on the size of your load.
A safe alternative to soften your clothes – and it’s EASY!!!
Remember to add 3-5 drops of eucalyptus or tea tree oil to the dispenser along with the fabric softener to kill bacteria, mold, sick germs, etc. when washing sheets, towels, or any load that might need it!

I love all your natural, homemade recipes, Jill! We’ve used the homemade baby wipe solution you posted–we use it in a spray bottle since we have cloth wipes for our cloth diapers! Thanks for linking up at Thrifty Thursday again this week!

Very cool! I grew up never using fabric softener and after I had my own home never started, but I do add vinegar when I’m washing. I wonder if that has a similar effect?
Thanks for linking up at Thrifty Thursday. <3

I’m sure it does have a similar effect, Anna! The other things probably add to its effectiveness and add nice fragrance. ๐
