New Years Resolutions ~ Less Sugar

You know, I’m not really supposed to have sugar.  I’ve had hypoglycemia since a teenager (which is caused from eating too much sugar and processed foods – don’t I wish I had more knowledge about diet then!!!).  My hypoglycemia isn’t severe, and is considered “mild” according to the doctors.  Nevertheless, I do crave and indulge in sugary treats….too often!  I have found that eating more raw foods and/or cleansing greatly reduces my cravings for sugar and other unhealthy foods.  But, I do still enjoy eating sweets here and there – and, you know, often. πŸ™‚  I have made a determination to make healthier foods to satisfy my sweet tooth.  One way I’m doing this is to use honey or fruit sweetened treats.  I do my very best to only use organic sugar when I do bake with sugar, but I know that making sweet treats with honey or fruit, and only using sugar occasionally, would be much better for my health.

One of my favorite recipes for an easy honey treat is still the Raw Oatmeal No-Bakes
What about these Coconut Macaroons!  I used to strongly dislike coconut, but I’m glad I love it now!
Doesn’t this Apple Cranberry Cheesecake look amazing?
Or, Cacao Walnut Fudge
OR  Orange Chocolate Cheesecake

Hello!  Seriously ?!?! I LOVE orange and chocolate together, and I can make it healthy?  I’ve made Orange Chocolate Cheesecake in the past that tasted amazing, but it wasn’t exactly healthy!  How exciting is this?

The possibilities to satisfy your sweet tooth using healthier ingredients are endless!  I can’t wait to try more recipes using healthier sweeteners.  Do you have any recipes you love that only use honey, agave or fruits?  I would love to try them!  Please share! πŸ™‚

Sugar is just ONE of my weaknesses! I was actually thinking this morning of going on a sugar fast. I’m not completely sure that is possible for me. πŸ™‚

Ah… the sweet tooth. I have a struggle with this as well! For me, cleansing of a candida overgrowth did wonders to “cure” my sugar cravings. I still really, really like sweets, but I don’t CRAVE them any more.

I’m loving these wonderful posts, Jill! Keep it up!

Those look delicious! I clicked on the Orange Chocolate Cheesecake and was shocked at the ingredients. If it tastes as good as it looks, this will be on my dessert menu. Thanks for all the great recipes!

    Hi Jills,
These tasty treat alternatives look really YUMMY πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’ve pretty much eliminated all sugar from my diet because it was causing severe inflammation in my body. Now I just use raw honey…and maybe in awhile I’ll reintroduce sugar…but I don’t miss it that much anyway. Hmm….that chocolate orange cheesecake does look good πŸ™‚ :)Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather πŸ˜‰

It's a good idea to plant them right before a rain so the rain can help spread and germinate the spores.
