This year my girls and I have decided to try our hand at handmade Christmas decorations.
Being the nostalgic person that I am, these handmade cinnamon ornaments make me think of Christmases past and add the perfect touch to our Christmas decor.
They are not only pretty, but they smell good enough to eat! They are non-edible though so make sure you emphasize to your children that they cannot be eaten, especially to the younger ones. They really do smell yummy. 🙂
Handmade Cinnamon Ornaments
{Recipe inspired by Spoonful.}
You’ll need:
- 1 1/2 cups ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup glue
- 1 cup applesauce
Directions:
- Stir together the cinnamon, glue, and applesauce.
- Wrap in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for an hour.
- Dust the table and a rolling pin with cinnamon and roll the dough to no less than 1/4 inch thickness.
- Use assorted cookie cutters to cut out the ornaments with the desired shape.
- With a pencil, make a hole in the top of the ornament.
- Place the ornaments on a cookie sheet until dry. It took our ornaments about 2 days to dry.
- Tie string or ribbon through the hole and decorate the house with them as desired.
What handmade Christmas decorations do you enjoy making?
